New Country - New Recipes

This basic rice is a good place to start. It is the basic side we have with meals daily.

In Taiwan - a greeting they use is "have you eaten (ni chi fan ma)?" Rice is such a integrated part of their culture, their word for food is literally "rice (fan)."

Long time no see, eh? Well, that is because this year has been a year in a new location. An opportunity came to volunteer in Taiwan so I decided to take the journey half way across the world to share the gospel of Jesus with others. While here, I have learned so much. Relying on God's strength in each and every moment no matter how big or small the task at hand may be. Sometimes just going to the store and buying a bottle of water in another country can be a difficult and seemingly impossible task at first.

My intentions are to share more recipes here as I learn more about cooking Taiwanese cuisine. Yes, it is much different than what most Americans would gravitate towards - but hey, at least give it a try!

After settling in, learning some Chinese and eating a LOT of foods I'd never heard of before - I decided to take on the challenge to learn all I could about the culture and cuisine here. It is so different. So unlike anything I had experienced before in America. It was also very different than I expected. Even despite being in a place so strange from where I grew up, I have loved every moment of it and am proud to call it home for now.
